My daughter gave her IBM ThinkPad to her younger brother and sister, she
deleted all the passwords from the computer before she gave it to them.
Everytime we turn it on, a screen comes up asking for user name and password.
She has no idea what it might be, and I can't figure out how to get past
this.  Is there a way around this?  It says Administrator beside user name.
Any suggestions would be great.  Thank You!!!!

The way you will need to get around this is one of two options:

1. Get her to remember the password.

Or failing that

2. Format your hard drive and reinstall everything, including Windows.

You may want to ask this in a Windows newsgroup which would be more
appropriate to your problem. This newsgroup is dedicated to the Microsoft
Access database product. The Microsoft website is not all that clear and may
have misdirected you.

Have you tried just hitting return? The password may be blank.

Actually, good point gls858.  I had forgotten that could be the case.  We had
that at a place I worked before, but it had been so long ago that I had
forgotten.  Thanks for that additional info.  Hopefully that is all the
original poster needs as it would simplify things for them and make them very
happy.

We may never know. Many times someone will post once and never be seen
again :-)
I would also be curious as to how the original owner "deleted all of the
passwords".

If you delete the named user and administrator accounts and passwords,
doesn't the system default to an administrator account that cannot be
deleted?  Perhaps as suggested, with a blank password?
