HELP !!!!!!!!!!!  mdf files

hi,

I need to send an .mdf file in an email and I cannot do it. I cant even zip
it. I cant do a thing with it. I stopped sql server and that doesnt seem to
have helped, since I thought it was accessing it. I shut everything down too.
What the )$#(*)($* is going on????????  can somebody give me a hint please
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Start SQL Server
Detach the db
Zip the file
Attach the db
