I have just ugraded from Access 97 where I was pretty compfortable to 2003.

One thing I have noticed that seems to behave very differently, and gave me
quite a scare is that in access 97 I could begin work on a DB that was not
secured, work on it, If I needed to reopen it I could simply double click the
file in explorer and away we went.

For some reason, it appears that this is not the way 2003 works? After doing
the above I receive and error basically appearing to indicate that the
database IS secured and I can't get in? Or locked by someone else.  BUT is I
open access 2003 THEN try to open the DB THROUGH access it seems to work OK!?

What do I need to know about this? Is this normal or am I doing something
else wrong because of something I am not aware of?

Thanks in advance for the info!

Rick

Rick,
You should not be making changes to a database that someone else is
accessing regardless of the version.  They is too much room for error and
loss of design.  Try setting up a "beta" copy for your changes and then when
they are complete, download the new copy for others to use.
