Last night, I opened Access 2003 for the first time on my machine. I created a table with several columns and added a row of data. After I closed the database, I was then able to go to write a web page with ASP.NET which connected to the database and displayed data from that row on the web page. Today, I went back to add an id/password to the database, since this database will sit on the web server. I opened the database in Exclusive mode, used Tools>Security>Set Database Password, and set a password, but I don't think that's what I want. So I removed that password and then went to Tools>Security>User and Group Permissions and set a password on the 'Admin' account. I closed the database and re-opened it, and my password is not recognized (I've typed it many times, and even tried some fat-finger versions). So I deleted the database entirely and decided to create a new one from scratch. When I choose "Blank database" I'm presented with a login screen, and, again, it doesn't accept my password. How can I get rid of this password protection so I can return to creating a database? Why did you delete your database? The userid and password are tied to your workgroup. The system.mdw file. If you delete this, when you reopen Access it will create a new one. Just FYI, you did NOT secure your database. You can't simply take the shorcut you tried. If you were to take your database to any other computer and try to open it, you would be able to (with no password). Really, all you did was secured it on YOUR computer. Pretty much the opposite of what you wanted! You must follow ALLLLL the steps in the security FAQ. Read and reread and reread the following...
