Sharing a database

Hi

I have created a shared database on the company server and have created
shortcuts on each of the users desktops. We cannot all access the database at
the same time if we use the shortcuts. However it allows us to access the
database at once if we open the access application first and then open the
database in the application.

Can someone advise on how to overcome this?

In addition to the information Allen has in the link he already gave you,
see what Tony Toews has at

I guess you missed this part of the article:
Access includes an Add-In to perform the split
with details of where to find it in different versions of Access.

The tried and tested method for a multi-user scenario is to split the
database and give each user their own copy of the front end.  More info

Access users would be wise to have Doug's, Tony's, and Allen's web sites in
their Favorites.  There is a wealth of information there from beginner to
advanced.
