I have a subform that I am using for Data Entry however instead of adding a
new record, as my command button states, it writes over the record previously
entered.
If I use the subform on it's own it works fine, when this form is in the
'master' form it doesn't work.

What code are you using?
You might need to set the focus to the sub form, before running a command to
open a new record

Me.SubFormName.SetFocus
DoCmd.GoToRecord , , acNewRec

I hope that helped
Good luck
