If you're trying to access Outlook from Access, see
http://www.granite.ab.ca/access/email.htm for useful links.
Your description below doesn't seem to fit the version of Outlook on my
computer, but if you're trying to use an Access database as an Outlook
contacts list I suggest you start at www.outlookcode.com, and if you
have no success there ask in an Outlook newsgroup.
If your email software is something other than Outlook (e.g. Outlook
Express), ask in a forum that specialises in it.

I am using Outlook 2003, but am using it's internal editor for emailing, my
problem is that when I create an email via access (to send to a supplier for
info) I would like to able to insert the customers name from access into this
field, as it is not send with the email.

I think the only way you'll be able to this is by automating Outlook.
(It may be possible using the CDO library.) There's getting-started
information at
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dno2k3ta/html/o
dc_ac_olauto.asp
and after that my usual Outlook resources www.outlookcode.com and
www.slipstick.com.
