MS Access Forum / Forms / May 2008track appointments
I have read threads about topic but I could not find something that could help me. Using Acc XP. There are several Admissions Reps who have to enter appointment info. (date/time) for a student to see a Financial Aid Rep. At the present time they use a MS Word file to record the student name and appt. info (tehy basically type info in a Word table). The problem is that if an Admission Rep does not close the file other users cannot schedule appointments (this was already set that way by the previous guy in charge) My boss wants me to do it in Access. Can I create a calendar form where info can be entered and if a time slot (half hour time slots) is taken then data cannot overlap? Should I use Outlook instead? Probably this Q. has been answered in the past but I could not find anything. Thank you for your help. Outlook already does this quite nicely, so you could use that. You can also do it in Access, but to show the calander with the 30 minute time slots, you would have to build a form that would do it. I don't know if someone has such a template on line you could download and use, but it would not surprise me if there were such a tool available. I am not familiar with Outlook but if I can handle Access I don see a problem w/Outlook. Just one question before I tackle it, can i display/import data from Access in outlook? can I have an icon in an Access form so the outlook screen (with the calndar) is displayed? Thank you for your help. The short answer is yes. All MS Office products use VBA to allow you to build custom functionality and make the various products work together. The sad part is I can't help with using Access from Outlook. I have not done that before; however, I would suggest you ask questions about this in one of the Outlook news groups.
