Currently I have a form that has multiple records and sorts the records by
the autonumber ascending. I also have date field in the record and would like
the form to have the form automatically have the sorting default by date or
have the autonumber sort descending. Is there away to change the sorting
defualt settings.

Either use a query with an ORDER BY as your record source or use the form's
ORDER BY and ORDERBY ON properties to control this.
