All of a sudden, I am unable to Get External Data from a csv file.  I have
been importing just fine for weeks, but this morning when I try to Get
External Data and select my file, I get a form titled mx_FrmMain that doesn't
show any of the data, and neither the Next or Cancel buttons work on it (I
can get out of it by hitting the X on hte Upper RHS).  Any thoughts??

Hi Ramesh,

The first thing I'd try is to re-register the files ACCWIZ.DLL. and
mstext40.dll.

To re-register a DLL file,

1) Locate it (usually all these are in the Windows\System32 or
WINNT\System32 folder.

2) Locate the file regsvr32.exe.

3) Drag the DLL file's icon onto the regsvr32.exe icon.

If that doesn't fix it, please post back with some more information,
including:

-the version and service packs of Windows and Access
-whether you get the problem with all CSV files or just a particular one
-are you using the standard File|Get External Data|Import menu command,
or something else.

Hello, John,
I have the same problem as Ramesh. Per your instructions, I droppe
ACCWIZ.DLL onto regsrv32 but DO NOT HAVE mstext40.dll!?! I'm running M
Office Access 2003 (11.6355.6408) SP1 on Windows XP-SP1. I am trying t
import a .xls file through the File->Get External Data approach. Thi
behavior is new and I'm wondering if a recent registry cleaning o
spyware sweep created this result? Any help is appreciated.  Regards

It should exist, in the \Windows\System32 folder. Mine is version
4.00.8015.0.

If it's really not there (make sure that your search is taking in hidden
files), I'd start by installing Windows XP SP2.

Thanks for your response, John. I turns out, however, that my DAO wa
not registered, 'see here
(http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;319844). I'
thinking that I got a new dao360.dll when I did a M$ Office Update
Anyway, I'm back in business. Again, thank you for your input.
Regards
