field format question - currency

The data I'm importing has money fields.  I'd *prefer* to use a decimal numbered
field with a scale of 2, rather than a 'currency' field.

1.)  Are there 'gotchas' about doing this?

2.)  In the import wizard (2k) I can't define a decimal number type.  Is this
normal?  Is there a way I *can*?

3.)  Import as currency then change it to decimal?  Won't work.  I tried it.
Access says that it can't do it.  (That's today.  I did it in another mdb on
Friday.)

Any thoughts/ideas/suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Tom

There may be, but probably not serious in this context. I think there's
information at http://allenbrowne.com/

I'd define the table manually before importing the data.
