That certainly used to be the case. But I'm pretty sure that at least
one current version of (FM 7 Server?) acts as an ODBC server, so it's
worth checking just what's on site and then researching at
www.filemaker.com.

Hi -- I have to work with FileMaker Pro6 data a good bit.  It does have
limited ODBC capabilities.  But, ususally I cannot make direct import or
linked table from FMP-->Access. The typical error message is that there are
"too many indexes" in the FMP tables.  I get this error even after I have
manually turned off every index in the FMP tables. [If anyone knows how to
get around this error I would love to hear from you! e.g., does FMP7 NOT have
this problem?]

But -- there is a great 2-step work around involving Excel that has worked
very well for me as a long-term solution.  (1) In Excel, use MS Query to set
up linked tables from FMP into Excel spreadsheets.   (2) Then, from within
Access, set up each Excel worksheet containing FMP data as a linked table.  

Note -- the ODBC editing from FMP to Excel does not go both ways (i.e., any
changes in the Excel/Access datasheets do not flow/update back to the
original FMP tables.  In other words, any edits needed in the FMP side of the
data must be made directly in FMP (then you must refresh the data/query in
Excel to have the changes reflected in the Excel/Access linked tables).
