i am using access 2002 to import data from various an
as/400.  when i use file,get external data,import and then
use ODBC databases, machine data source access creates a
new table.  how can i get access to import the data to a
table that already exists?

Don't click Import.
Click Link.
Then write a query off the linked table to extract only the records you need
and Append them to your existing table.
