The above is an error message that I keep getting when trying to import a
certain set of data, whether it is in xls, xlsx, csv, or tab delimited format
-- even when I've saved the tab-delimited file in Notepad. If anyone can tell
me what this message means, I would greatly appreciate it.

Hi Marian,

This message can be a symptom of a corrupt database.

Create a new database and try importing the data. If you succeed, it
suggests there's a problem with the existing database. If you get the
same message, the problem's more likely to be with your Access
installation.

for information on dealing with corruption, see e.g.
