Installing SourceSafe Addin from XP Developer for Access 2003

KB article 824278 (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;824278&Product=acc2003) indicates that Visual SourceSafe support can be added to Access 2003 with the VSS addin from Office XP Developer.  How do you install this?  I've tried using the standard setup program, but nothing is installed because Office XP is not on my system, only Office 2003.  I get responses indicating that Office XP is missing

I've also had responses on other threads (microsoft.public.vstudio.sourcesafe) that indicate VSS support is going to be supported using a new version of the addin (accscc10.dll)?  Is that yet available?  If so, from where

The neglect of VSS in Access 2003 has been a real inconvenience

Thanks

Michael

Hi Michael,

Thanks for your post. According to your description, I understand that you
want to know if Visual SourceSafe support can be added to Access 2003. If I
have misunderstood, please feel free to let me know

So far as I know, the VSS integration in Access 2003 is not a currently
supported scenario with Access 2003. Yes, you are right that a new version
of the add-in (accscc10.dll) that will work with Access 2003 and VSS 6.0d
is in works. It will be published on the web site for download when it will
be ready. I'd suggest you wait for the official supported way to get VSS to
work with Access 2003.

Thanks for your understanding and choosing Microsoft.

Regards,

KB article 824278 (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;824278&Product=acc2003) indicates that it will work--please refer to it.  It specifically discusses using Office XP Developer VSS addin with Access 2003.  However, it does not indicate how to install it.  When I try to install Office XP Developer, I get errors indicating Office XP is missing.  Of course it is, I've got Office 2003 installed, not Office XP!

We would have waited had Microsoft properly disclosed this issue BEFORE we upgraded our organization to Office 2003.  However, the only way to learn about this deficient capability is through newsgroups--a very customer oriented way of providing this information.  However, I'm sure that sales would be hurt if deficienices like this are disclosed.

I'm quite annoyed that I've had to waste significant time on this issue.

Hi Michael,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Based on my further research,
there is no Visual Source Safe Add-in yet for Access 2003. These are
something wrong with the information of VSS mentioned in the article
824278. The VSS integration in Access 2003 is not a currently supported
scenario with Access 2003. Please wait for the official supported way to
get VSS to work with Access 2003. I apologize for the inconvenience, and
thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Best wishes,

Michael Shao
