I am trying to convert a table from Access 97, that is
linked
to an Excel file. In the conversion process I get an error
message that gives the table name followed by a $ sign. My
guess is that the $ sign is indicating the link to the
Excel File. At this point it stops the process of
conversion. (Calls it an illegal file name) This table is
very important to daily
operating proceedures and we are trying to preserve it in
tact. There are many queries built around it. My hope is
that someone out there has encounteresd
this problem and has a solution. HELP??

1) make sure that the spreadsheet is actually there.

2) If that doesn't help, delete the link.  Do the conversion
without the link. re-create the link in the new database.
