Hello,
My configuration :
MSDE 2000 - SP3
Windows XP Pro - Local network.

If MDSE is installed under Windows XP Pro, I can't access to MSDE from
client sides with Windows Security mode !

But if the MSDE is installed under idows 2000 (pro or server) every thing is
well!

Somebody knows the reason ?
Thanks

One common issue with this is the fact that, if the computer is a member of
the domain, you can have user accounts for the computer and for the domain
with the same names, and they are not the same thing.  Make sure you've got
the right fully qualified Windows login name mapped to the database user.

Also, if you have zone alarm or some such thing installed, it must be
configured properly, or it can interfere.

I have a local network without domain, this is a workgroup.
My workgroup called STBG, my computer : p1000, the MSDE server has the same
name.
I do two tests :
1 - The MSDE installation under Windows XP pro (over the first partition),
2 - The MSDE installation under windows 2k pro (over the second partition).

The two MSDE installations are the same.
From the a PC-client I can access the MSDE - Win2k with Windows
authentication. But I can't do to the MSDE-Win XP.
Perhaps some problems at the network confifuration under the Win XP ? it
seems every thing is good !

The pc client is the same

Under XP, by default, all remote logins will revert to the guest account.

Make sure that in "Local Security Policies" : "Network access": "Sharing and
security model for local accounts" is set to Classic and not to Guest.

With the Classic setting, remote users will be able to make login on the
local machine and authenticate as themselves.  With the Guest setting, all
remote users will revert to the local Guest account, even when using another
login to authenticate.
