Student  intrested in learning  SQL Server 2000 DBA

Hello,
  I am from India.I am intrested in learnign SQL Server 2000 DBA.The
computer institutes here offer it at very costly prices.Is there any way in
which I can do this myself at home ??From where can I get the software and
material.PLease help me,

Buy the $49 SQL Server developer edition from Microsft, and a few good books
to get you started.  Then decide if you need the expensive classes
